This restored late XIX c mansion sits among Otepää county’s lovely rolling hills and lakes, and staying here felt unique. In summer there are slides, aquabikes, and other water activities. The famous Otepää ski trails are close by in winter, if there’s snow.

We spent a night here, just a few minutes from Otepää. In summer the rooms can get a bit warm because there’s no air-conditioning. We didn’t feel comfortable drinking the tap water, which smelled and tasted odd.

The rooms each have their own lovely decor, and service at this family-run hotel is very nice. Breakfast is ample and the dining is good. Cantervilla is a genuine castle-manor in a beautiful part of Estonia, near City of Tartu and Otepää. There are wooden heated saunas beside a lovely lake, plus the "Mängumaa" amusement park on the grounds, which should be fun for youngsters and the young at heart. I can only recommend a visit for an authentic feel.

The hostess was the nicest I’ve ever met. Learning the stories told in both the castle and the theme park made our night in the castle even more special. I recommend it.

We arrived late, after the kitchen had closed, but they still gave us food. We also went swimming. The hotel felt cozy, with lovely antique furniture. It was one of the best places I’ve traveled to and stayed overnight. The only real downside was no air conditioning in our room on a really hot day. I’m used to sleeping at around 21c~.
