Nord Hostel

Really good hostel for the price: four people shared one room for 50 euro. Some areas were being renovated, but our room was very good, and it even had a Sauna!

I paid for six days, then arrived to find an uncleaned room. I’d booked a double bed and a single, but was given two singles instead. Staff told me another room would be ready in 10-15 minutes. I waited about 20 minutes with no progress, then found nobody at reception or anywhere else in the hotel, and got no reply to my messages. I left in the middle of the night and asked for a full refund. The hotel said I hadn’t waited long enough, blamed me and refused to refund me. They also said the payment had gone to booking and the hotel couldn’t return it, but I think the hotel had rejected my application on booking. There was a major renovation underway that hadn’t been mentioned, and customer service only spoke Russian. Don’t trust what the hotel says or the pictures. I feel they’re trying to scam you out of your money.

We went to Telliskivi 24, but there was no hotel there. We stood around for ages before asking for help at a restaurant on the same street. Thanks to the restaurant staff, who helped us sort it out. The hostel service was terrible: staff spoke to us like buddies instead of guests, and their attitude was just horrible. I don’t recommend it.

The location is very good, close to the centre, and if all you need is a cheap place to sleep, the hotel may be fine for that. But the floors, walls and ceilings are broken, dust is everywhere, and the whole building smells. Our windows wouldn’t open to air out the room. I also felt scared as a woman because of some of the people staying there. They didn’t leave me with a good impression of the clientele. I wouldn’t recommend it for any other purpose.
