The room worked fine for a night, though it was small, and a couple of plates would have been useful alongside the bowls. Getting in was easy, which I appreciated. The location is handy: close to the sea and a shopping mall, and not too far from the center.

I picked Stroomi Hotel because I was trying to keep my Estonia trip cheap, and I’d read the reviews, so I thought I knew what to expect. I was wrong. The room was filthy and squalid. There were blood stains on the mattress underneath, dust in the air, and sun pouring straight through the window until the room felt baked. I kept waking up feeling like an insect was crawling on me. The shower holder was broken, and you’d have to be tiny to shower properly. The Wi-Fi didn’t reach my room on the fifth floor, though it worked in the lobby. Using it there meant making it obvious to the dodgy outside world that I had a laptop. Stroomi is a long way from central Tallinn, and the daily trips back and forth cost more. I’d have been better off paying extra to stay in town. I’ve stayed in some dives around Southeast Asia and managed, but this was on a different level. I lasted one night and checked out as early as I could. There’s no point staying here, even on a budget. Look elsewhere. Do not stay here.

In April and May 2025, a pair of seagulls built a nest and laid eggs on your roof. You destroyed it. A week or two later they made another nest and laid eggs, and you destroyed that one too. Hearing them scream when they came back to the ruined nest was the most heartbreaking sound I’ve ever heard. Destroying bird nests is illegal in Estonia.

You can book an apartment for a day, a week, a month, or longer, and there’s laundry, parking by the house and in the yard, video surveillance, security, and a fire alarm. Inside, the rooms are clean and quiet, with a kitchen, shower, toilet, and fast Wi-Fi. The owners are friendly and hospitable. It’s an ideal spot for one guest or a couple in the area.

For my two nights in mid-July, it covered the basics I needed, a place to sleep and breakfast. It’s an inexpensive hotel, about five minutes by taxi from Old Town. I’d probably stay here again sometime.
