Tallinn City Apartments

I liked the price and location, and the downstairs apartment itself looked nice and had a good amount of space. But it was really humid inside, with no airflow, and the bed and sheets felt damp. My clothes were still wet after lying out for 12+ hours, and there was a lot of mold behind the washing machine. The shower didn't drain properly, so water sat on the floor. Getting to that apartment was a whole ordeal. I arrived in Tallinn expecting to check in at the place I'd booked, but was redirected to another address about a ten minute walk away. My schedule was tight, and the correct details would have helped. I also hoped to leave my luggage at reception as the website advertised, but was told I couldn't because I wasn't staying at that location. The receptionist was rude and said I should have known from a text sent a couple of days earlier. I hadn't seen that information. I'd been traveling in Finland, had booked 3-4 weeks before arrival, and had saved different details. After the unfriendly staff finally gave me check-in instructions, picking up the keys felt like a scavenger hunt. I carried my heavy backpack around Tallinn for two hours because I couldn't store it. After my walking tour, I had to go to a courtyard, enter a code to open a door, use another code on a lockbox, then walk another 3-4 minutes to the actual unit. With the confusing check-in, unfriendly staff, and the mold, shower and humidity problems, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

We spent over two hours visiting three different places before we could get into the apartment, and the confusion caused real problems for my guests, who were foreign performers. They arrived late for their show, went on stage without preparation, and had to shorten the performance. I had to pay for all the losses myself. The booking was for an apartment for 8 people. Before paying a considerable amount through Booking.com, I called the staff to ask about extra folding beds, since the listing said there were 4 single beds and 2 double beds. They assured me extra beds were possible. On check-in day, though, I was told there would be no extras unless I paid more, and that the apartment was at a completely different address. We found out at the last minute and had no way to cancel or change the booking. For the total cost, I could have rented a luxury apartment elsewhere. The whole process felt unprofessional and irresponsible. Finding the place was difficult too. The address they gave, Pikk 71, basically doesn't exist: navigation only shows house no. 69, and the nearest building has a different hotel name and street listed. I called several times for directions but got no answer. When I eventually found reception, one of the two young women there said she knew nothing about my booking or payment and seemed unfamiliar with the process. I showed her our messages and paid again before she gave me instructions for the keys. Even then, the keys were at one address and the apartment at another. If you book here, get every agreement confirmed in writing beforehand. Without that, nothing seems guaranteed. I don't recommend it.

I've stayed in their apartments in Tallinn several times, and they're always my first choice. They're central, and the service is great. During one of the busiest weekends of the summer, we had a problem with a room and the team quickly sorted it out and arranged an alternative.

The room was very comfortable, and check-in and check-out were friendly and helpful. You could make a basic meal with the kitchen appliances and utensils, though we didn't use them. One thing I'd suggest if you're bringing heavy bags: ask for a lower floor. We had a lot of stairs to climb and wished we'd been lower down.
