Welcome Hostel Rotermann

We arrived in Tallinn very late with our family of three. Finding Welcome Hostel took a little while because it's tucked among a maze of lovely craft shops, pubs, and restaurants, but someone buzzed us in and gave us the key. Our room was fine, though we had expected the family bed and got a double-occupancy room instead. One of the bathrooms also wasn't cleaned when it should have been during our two-night stay, which is why I gave Welcome Hostel four stars. The sleeping areas themselves were safe and clean, though, and I'd absolutely stay again. There was a nice lounge area with affordable coffee machines, lots of useful brochures, and a large kitchen we could have used if we'd stayed longer or wanted to cook. The hostel is in a shopping district with plenty of nightlife, near the ferries, and an easy walk from Ol d town. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good quality, inexpensive place to sleep in Tallinn.

The place was clean and quiet, and the beds were comfortable. It was reasonably priced and in a nice area, about 5-10 minutes on foot from the old town, with a 15-minute tram ride to the airport. There was no atmosphere, though, and the showers ran for just 10 seconds each time you pressed the button.

The rooms are nice and the location is good, but maintenance seems to be a problem. More than half the knobs were broken, working showers had no soap, and toilets were either blocked or had broken doors, among other issues. This place could be amazing, but it's missing too many basics. If those things don't bother you, it's not too bad. Given how it looks and what it costs, though, I'd expect more.

The room and toilets were cleaned well, and the room had good lighting. Reception was warm and welcoming. The only drawback was having no blinds. That wasn't a big problem in our case, since our room faced the opposite wall.
