Lydia Hotel

A wonderful breakfast, and a clean, soft bed with comfortable pillows. The room was spacious and clean, with all the amenities, and the shower and restroom were separate. The hotel is newly furnished and right in the city centre. Best hotel in Tartu.

The hotel looks nice and sits in a good location, but the service felt like the bare minimum and as if guests didn’t matter. They sent two emails and a text urging me to check in online so the front desk wouldn’t need to enter the details. Yet nobody told us to reserve parking ahead of time. The garage was full, so we had to find and pay for street parking far away. They also assigned us two children's beds without asking whether we wanted one large bed or two small ones. It seems like that could have been checked in one of those emails. Slippers weren’t in the room in the name of saving the planet, so we had to go downstairs for them. There was no tea or coffee in the room either, and we had to get those from reception. Shouldn’t a 4 star hotel provide them? When we ran out of tissues because of allergies, an urgent request for more took over two hours and a second, irritated request. This was the worst hotel of our lovely two-week trip around the Baltics.

We arrived without a reservation, but the staff welcomed us warmly and quickly found us a fantastic suite. They were professional from the moment we walked into Lydia Hotel. Our room was spotless and spacious, with its own sauna and tub. I also loved the hotel spa, which had a warm, relaxing feel, a pool, and sauna facilities. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent, and the buffet breakfast the next morning was delicious and nicely presented. Since it was my birthday, they brought out a cake with candles at breakfast. Such a thoughtful surprise, it made my day. The service and facilities went beyond what I expected. I highly recommend Lydia Hotel if you’re staying in Tartu.

Breakfast was great, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. I also really enjoyed the spa, especially since its opening hours made it possible to use. At most of the other hotels on our trip, the spa closed at 21:00, which left no chance to go. This was the best hotel on our 10-day trip from Vilnius to Tallinn, and I wish we could have stayed a second night. Everything felt perfect, including a small detail we’d never seen before: there’s a socket inside the safe, handy for charging a device while it’s secured. The only brief concern was that the AC didn’t seem to cool the room properly at first. Staff explained it only cools while someone is in the room. After dinner I went to the spa while my husband relaxed in the room, and by the time I came back, it had cooled by 2 degrees. I told reception they should mention this at check-in to avoid unnecessary complaints. I can definitely recommend the hotel and hope to return one day. Lydia ❤️❤️❤️!!!
