We only stayed one night, but we wish we could have spent longer with the people of the village. We’re a family of seven, and it’s hard to put into words how much we appreciated our time there. The kindness and hospitality were incredible, and everything was perfect. The best part was meeting Hamza and the local people. Hamza showed us the beautiful area near the hotel, including Lake Nasser, also known as the Nubian Lake, with its lovely scenery and all kinds of birds. He explained the area and took us to several local restaurants and cafés that we really enjoyed. In the morning we visited the Abu Simbel Temples, and in the evening we went to the Sound and Light Show, which we highly recommend.

The host is the best part of this house, a super friendly guy who knows all the right places in town and can explain a lot about the region and Egypt as a whole. The guesthouse is clean and has a common area where you can enjoy a nice breakfast. It’s a 10-minute walk to the city center. Definitely recommend it.

The guest house is brand new and feels it. Everything was squeaky clean, the beds and bedding were in perfect shape, and the much-needed aircon cooled the room in minutes. There’s a comfy shared area with couches and a table and chairs, which gives the place a homey feel. It was easily the best guest house we’ve stayed in so far on our Egypt trip. Assem speaks English perfectly, so communication was great from booking through checkout. He welcomed us with open arms and arranged everything, from lightshow tickets to falafel for breakfast. His nephew drove us around last night, and they make a great team. We had a perfect one-night stay at Wawat. Highly recommend it for the comfortable rooms and the help you get, plus all that Nubian hospitality and warmth. Thank you so much, Assem and family 🫶

The guest house was clean, quiet, and comfortable, with everything well maintained. The air conditioning worked perfectly in the summer heat, the WiFi was strong, and there was reliable hot water. It was easily the best place we stayed during our time in Egyp, and the highlight of our whole Egypt trip. Assem made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. He was warm and welcoming, attentive, always available, and went above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed. His kindness made our visit comfortable. He speaks excellent English, too, so communication was easy both before the stay and while we were there. If you’re going to Abu Simbel, I 100% recommend Wawat. Assem is the best host you could hope for, and it felt like being welcomed into a home, not just a hotel.
