Plaza Hotel Alexandria

Breakfast was poor and had little variety. The egg cook seemed annoyed and showed no hospitality, and the plates and cups had stains and chipped edges. The bread was cold, with no way to heat it. Cleanliness was lacking in the rooms, bathrooms, furniture, curtains, carpets, and beds. Staff talked a lot but didn’t take real action, and came across as unprofessional. The security staff were asleep at their posts, so I don’t know how they’re meant to provide security. This hotel doesn’t deserve even two stars.

The location is fantastic, but after giving this hotel several chances, each stay has been a frustrating mess. The staff I spoke to were actually quite nice, and said the owners know about the problems the hotel is having but choose not to address them. I was put in a room on the 7th floor even though the elevator wouldn’t go up there. I called the front desk several times and got no answer, so I went all the way downstairs. They already knew about the elevator issue and couldn’t explain why I’d been assigned a room on that floor. The room was tiny, with rock-hard mattresses and useless pillows. Check-in was delayed because it wasn’t ready, and when I finally got in, it reeked of cigarette smoke. There were old cigarette butts left behind, and the air conditioning vents were filthy. I showed the staff photos and raised the problem. They apologized, but nothing was done. For the price, I expected a certain level of quality, but it was one frustration after another.

As soon as we walked into the room, I felt like throwing up. The walls and sheets were filthy, and the whole place felt disgusting and neglected. This hotel was a really bad choice.

The staff were nice, and the hotel was clean, but the bathrooms, mattresses, and rooms all need renovation. Room service and breakfast weren’t good. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
