Steigenberger Cecil Alexandria

My first stay at this historic hotel was a lovely one. The location is excellent, and although it has been renovated, it still holds onto its historical charm. The staff were friendly, welcoming, helpful, and very professional. Check-in and checkout were both smooth and pleasant. Special thanks to Samia from housekeeping and Yasser and Ahmed from the bell team for their professionalism, friendliness, and help throughout my stay.

The hotel mixes tradition with modern facilities and has a great spot overlooking the corniche, within walking distance of cafés and restaurants. The staff were lovely, especially the chief housekeeper on our floor, who went out of their way to help. Our room was large, clean, and comfortable, with a sea view. I was told it had once been occupied by Josephine Baker. The spacious bathroom had a working bathtub, which was a treat. Breakfast came as a large buffet with a good range of choices and good coffee. In the evenings we enjoyed the Monty Bar's hospitality, Egyptian wine selection, and good food. We couldn't have asked for a better place for our first visit to Alexandria.

The rooms are surprisingly spacious and really comfortable, and breakfast was great. The whole place feels like stepping back in time, from the old gate to the elevator and stairs, all very authentically preserved. It’s a great spot for getting around on foot, with most things 15-20 minutes away. A little noisy, sure, but still very livable.

There were nine of us in my family visiting Cairo and Alexandria, and we stayed at the Steigenberger Hotel in both cities. At the Ceicil Hotel, Mr. Fathy in the restaurant, Ms. Samia in housekeeping, and Mr. Mohamed at the front desk were especially caring and helpful every day. Samia was so sweet and kind, she really felt like family. Everyone made sure we had what we needed. We were impressed by the care and attention from the whole staff, and had a clean, professional, wonderful stay. Thank you to all the hotel staff, from Sarah and family.
