The Nile view from our room for two was great, and the hotel arranged our Abu Simbel trip and the drive from Aswan to Luxor via Kom Ombo, where there’s also a crocodile museum, and Edfu. We sent passport photos on WhatsApp and they sorted out the rest at a very good price. They could have arranged Philae Temple or a Nubian village visit too, but we ran out of time. Carrefour is nearby for breakfast and water, though the hotel also has water bottles you can pay for later. There’s a washing machine in a shared bathroom in the main building for a small extra charge. Lots of tourists were staying there. The neighborhood wasn’t very clean, but Aswan seemed like that everywhere we went. Our shower cord was broken, though we managed. We booked three nights through Booking.com. There’s no restaurant at the hotel, but a very good Chinese place with extra-large portions is about 10-15 minutes away. Mosquitoes were around, as expected. By the second day, tuk-tuk drivers already knew where we were staying and called out “Backpack!!!” trying to take us back. Thanks, backpackers inn!
