The kayak rental was one of the highlights for me. It was 100egp for one person or 200egp for two for the day, and made for a few funny moments with the other travelers. The area is really calm, which I appreciated. I spent three nights in the budget mixed dorm and we were welcomed. The quick introduction covered both buildings, which was fine. Travel is about exploring places too, right? Gandhi and his son were helpful with pretty much anything you’d need for a short stay. The supermarket is close by, and the showers stay hot with steady water. The kitchen had hardly any pots or pans. Maybe I missed them, but I checked the obvious spots. My main downside was the mosquitoes in the room. I killed a bunch, but more kept showing up and I couldn’t work out where they came from. Cheers, and till next time.

The owner was really kind and helpful, and the place has a fridge and kitchen, so don’t think twice about cooking here!! I stayed in the women’s dorm for two days and booked their early Abu Simbel trip, from around 4am to 12pm. It’s quite far from Aswan station, but you can walk to the Nile corniche. KFC is there too, along with a lovely spot to hang out and a cafe overlooking the Nile.

The host was especially helpful with my flexible schedule and arranged a shared van to Abu Simbel. The room was clean and had a wardrobe, with a steady supply of hot water. It’s a nice area by the Nile, though it takes a little walk from Aswan’s main street. Still accessible.

You come to Aswan for this location, especially if you don’t want to be right in the middle of the city. The beds were comfortable, with social spaces and a huge kitchen. The owner Ghandi was kind and well travelled, and the reception team were great too. One of Egypt’s incredible hostels. I had a wonderful stay and Insh’allah I’ll come back someday. Thank you, Adam.
