Mövenpick Resort Aswan

The gardens are lovely, almost like an oasis in the desert, and the free chocolate bar from 4-5 pm was a nice touch, though we were usually out and couldn’t enjoy it. The buffet breakfast had a large selection, but the quality wasn’t good. The service and facilities didn’t feel up to five-star expectations. The hotel was adequately managed and the room size was fine, but the decor seemed very dated, perhaps 20-30 years old, and staff training needs work. When we arrived early and waited in the lobby, we asked for water and were told there was no complimentary option and we had to buy it. Two large 1-liter bottles were in our room, which was enough for us, but when we asked whether we could get more if needed, we were told no. We didn’t need extra water, but the refusal felt inhospitable. At $300 a night, a couple more bottles shouldn’t be a barrier to guest comfort. Those interactions left a bad first impression and will probably make this my first and last Mövenpick stay. The shower floor was flat, so water pooled instead of draining and left us standing in dirty water. We had the same problem in both rooms.

Martha from the concierge team deserves special thanks. On a Friday, their holiday, she handled a difficult EgyptAir flight change professionally and efficiently, saving us valuable time. The service at Mövenpick Aswan is the best choice in Aswan!

The complimentary boat across the island is a real plus. Many other hotels don’t provide one, so guests have to pay out of pocket to cross the Nile to the mainland. The spacious rooms and excellent guest services made our time in Aswan very enjoyable. The team tried hard to make our stay great and was accommodating to all our needs. I’d recommend this luxurious, private resort if you’re visiting Aswan.

The breakfast was excellent, and the hotel has good restaurants on site. It’s in a great location and is a nice place to stay. At first, we couldn’t freely explore the rest of the island, apparently for security reasons. We were told to take the boat to shore and the ferry back, or pay 35 USD for a very short ride. Eventually we found a side gate near the bird-watching house, where a guard let us leave when we insisted.
