Bedouin Hotel

Dirty, old, cold rooms and poor sanitation, with loud music blaring at reception all night. The worst part was the rude, greedy owner. The ugliest, most horrible place in Cairo. Never stay here!

I booked a deluxe twin room with a private bathroom for one night, but on arrival the owner, I think, said all the rooms were full and offered only a twin room with a shared bathroom. He wanted 80EGP per person, more than the price of what I’d booked. The shared bathroom was filthy, and the sheets smelled strange. We’d arrived a little early and asked the receptionist if we could leave our luggage. He said yes and let us put it in a room, despite the site saying there was a free luggage room. Later, the owner wanted to charge us for two nights because we’d left the bags there. He may talk sweetly about treating you like family and wanting to help, but I wouldn’t trust it. Save your money and find somewhere better.

We’d booked a room with a private toilet online and paid what was supposed to be the deposit. At check-in, he said it wasn’t available and offered a room without a toilet, meaning we’d have to use the disgustingly dirty one outside. He still charged the private-room price, and when we argued, he scolded us back. Really bad experience. I should have listened to earlier reviews. The hostel is in a very dirty area right by traffic, so it’s noisy, and Cairo’s attractions are far away. The description about experiencing a Bedouin lifestyle is ridiculous and not worth the money. They also claim online to have free luggage storage for early arrivals. Our bus schedule meant we got there early, and the receptionist told us to leave our bags in one of the rooms, not a luggage room. At check-in we were told we’d be charged for two nights because the bags had been there since morning, though we never intended to do that and had just followed his instructions. Please don’t stay here and let it spoil your time in Cairo. Save your money.

Our room was clean and had a balcony, and my family and I felt safe and welcome at Bedouin hotel. The people running the place were kind and helpful, and made us feel at home.
