This was my third stay, and I’ve felt comfortable and satisfied every time, so I keep recommending the hotel. Its location is a major plus: right in downtown, close to important places, cafés, restaurants, and services. Everything you need is nearby. For the price, it’s great value. The rooms are clean, looked after, and comfortable, and the Wi-Fi is reliable, which can be hard to find. The staff make a real difference. Mahmoud, the night shift receptionist, was polite, helpful, and always ready to assist with a smile. Thanks also to Donya, the chef, whose care comes through in the food, and to Nismah, Heba, Nada, and Ramz. Everyone else at the hotel was welcoming and helpful too. It’s always a pleasure to stay here, and I’m sure I’ll be back.

It’s an old, vintage-style hotel. The staff are young, but they don’t seem very sure about how to handle electrical problems.

The young staff were very friendly, but the manager pushed tours and other add-ons too hard. While I was waiting for a taxi, I felt virtually held captive until I wrote a positive review, with staff watching. For this price, keep your expectations modest. The building is very old and partly derelict. A locked fire door splits the hotel horizontally, and we had to pass through it several times to reach an ancient but working lift. The upside is that the Egyptian museum is within walking distance. Once GEM opens, I’m not sure downtown will still be necessary.

The hotel is conveniently located in central Cairo, and the staff are friendly and willing to help with questions. The vintage elevator is magnificent.
