We stayed in a triple family room twice during our Egypt tour, first from 7/2/26 to 9/2 and then from 15/2 to 18/2/26. The service is what really stands out. I’ve never met a host and team this friendly anywhere. They make up for any shortcomings with their smiles and warm attitude. Champollion hostel is close to Tahrir square and the old museum, with plenty of places to eat nearby. It’s on the 6th floor, reached by a 100 yr old vintage elevator. Breakfast was good, and I loved it. Overall, a good place for a peaceful stay. We loved it and would stay again if we visit Cairo. Very much recommended.

The staff are incredibly kind and attentive, always happy to help with questions about sights or opening hours. Once, I went looking for toilet paper and a staff member spotted me and brought some right away without being asked. There are two cozy common rooms with a TV, plus a kitchen and a fridge you can use anytime. Free drinking water is included, and there’s a lift to the top-floor hostel. Breakfast is solid, and they welcome you with a drink. The view is pretty nice too. It’s in a great Cairo neighborhood, close to the old town and somewhere you can walk around even at night. Uber gets you places quickly, while the rooms stay quiet and peaceful. Highly recommended!

We stayed three nights when we first got to Cairo. The 100+ year old lift to the 6th floor is beautiful. The room was comfortable, breakfast was lovely, and everyone working there was friendly and helpful. The location is excellent for exploring downtown. I really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to everyone.

The staff were exceptional and made sure our needs were met. They can also arrange tours for you at a VERY big discount compared with online booking. The name can be confusing: online listings call it Champollion Palace, but the actual name is Champollion Hostel, even though it isn’t a hostel. I’d call it a mid-market hotel. We did have to ask for room cleaning, and our room smelled strongly of mosquito repellent when we first arrived. The smell hung around for a day. Still, we had a good stay overall.

The staff and management made our visit amazing, and even carried my husband up and down the stairs to the first-floor lift whenever we wanted to go out. The hotel is on the 6th floor. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, and staff were always happy to make tea or coffee and bring a snack. Our front guest room had a balcony and plenty of space for two large suitcases and a wheelchair. It was beautifully decorated and spotless, with a lovely modern bathroom and lots of hot water. We stayed four nights in January and thoroughly enjoyed it. The common room is well equipped, with a balcony and big-screen TV. Restaurants, shops, and the Egyptian Museum are all within walking distance, and we felt very safe in the area. We’d definitely stay at Champollion again. Thanks to the wonderful team!
