Downtown Family Suites

We stayed in the family suite with three bedrooms and a living room. The building and elevator looked old and a bit filthy, but inside, the apartment was modern and clean, with comfortable beds. Traffic was loud all the time, but we were tired enough that it didn’t bother us, and we slept through the night. The balcony view was amazing. Ahmed and Yasser were especially helpful and ready to assist whenever needed. We’d expected less because of the poor reviews, but our stay was excellent.

This was the worst place I’ve ever stayed. The apartment felt like a nightmare, and our four-day stay left my whole family and me sick. Dirty rugs covered the place, there were two blood stains on my bed’s sheets, and the walls had dead mosquitoes smeared with blood. Every night we shut all the bedroom doors and killed at least ten mosquitoes in each room just to sleep. There were only a few windows, all facing a garbage dump behind the building with stagnant water full of mosquitoes. We kept them shut, so there was no ventilation or natural light, yet they didn’t close properly and mosquitoes kept getting in. The elevator was filthy, and the building sat in an alley among structures that looked abandoned, in even worse condition than the others. This is a serious health hazard. If you care about your well-being and your trip, avoid it.

The owner was very friendly and gave us a free ride to the airport. The rest was disappointing: the place was filthy and run down, the shower hose was falling apart, and the water pressure was pitiful. Several windows wouldn’t close all the way, so it was a mosquito pit. The elevator was disgusting.

Our host, Yaser, made us comfortable and went out of his way to help, whatever the time we called. He arranged an airport pickup and a tour guide to show us around. The apartment is on the sixth floor and doesn’t look great from outside, but once inside, it’s worth the trip. It’s central and well located, and I’d recommend it for good value. We stayed three nights in a reasonably sized, well-furnished space. Wi-Fi was available, the TV had Netflix, and the AC units and water heater worked perfectly. The kitchen had basic appliances too.
