Regency Inn

The location was the best part for us, right in the city center, and the host was helpful with suggestions for places to see and eat. The room, though, felt closed in, tight, and poorly ventilated, and the facilities didn’t match the price or description. It was listed at about 323 sq ft, but the usable space seemed much smaller. The high ceiling makes it look larger in photos, while in person it feels cramped. Noise from the lobby and corridor comes straight into the room, making it hard to relax. The bathroom was awkward to use. The toilet sits so close to the sink that sitting is uncomfortable, and the sink is directly below the mirror, so you keep bumping into it. A thin folding plastic door didn’t close properly and opened toward one of the beds, which felt uncomfortable for privacy. There wasn’t a breakfast room, so breakfast came to the room. The bread we got was stale and inedible, the worst breakfast quality we experienced at any of the hotels we used in Egypt. There were no usable balconies either. Apparently only one room in the whole property has one, and that balcony faces a backyard that looks like a dumping area, hardly somewhere to sit and relax. Photos attached. The hotel is in a building over 100 years old, on the second floor. There’s no elevator and no staff to help with bags, so we carried everything upstairs ourselves. Finding the entrance was confusing too, as there are no clear signs outside. This was the most uncomfortable of the five hotels we stayed in on our Egypt trip. I hope management improves the bathroom, breakfast, signs, and luggage help, and makes the room and balcony descriptions more accurate.

Bebo went out of his way to take care of what I needed, and the customer service at Regency Inn was outstanding. They’re lucky to have such a dedicated employee. I also loved the homemade breakfast, which was even better than I expected. I’d highly recommend staying here.

The room was spotless and really spacious, and the price felt fair for what we got. We spent two nights at Regency Inn and were glad we chose it. Basma and the rest of the staff stood out most, they were attentive, professional, and always ready to help. Definitely recommend it.

The price and location are about the only things in this hotel’s favor. It takes up half a floor in a building with a cloth shop at the entrance, and our room was small. The elevator didn’t work. The walls were so thin I could hear traffic outside and the reception staff gossiping. They were also rude to a guest who came to visit me.
