I was in Cairo mainly to see the sights, and this was a great, affordable base. I stayed four nights, left my things while I spent a night in Luxor, then came back for two more. It’s not a five-star resort, but if you want a clean, central place to sleep, it works really well. There’s plenty nearby, from museums and downtown to local food, cafés, shops, and kebab places. Taxis and Ubers were easy to find. The hotel is on the fourth floor, with an elevator. My room was roomy and clean, with a window, air conditioning, a heater, and a comfortable bed. Breakfast was very good. I first arrived on a late flight from New York and stayed six nights in total. Saeed was great about arranging tours and answering questions, and was always smiling. Everyone was very nice.

I felt comfortable leaving my belongings in the room, and the staff were really good. The housekeeper was amazing: she made a very good breakfast and did a great job cleaning and ironing my clothes for a small fee. I’d booked the bedroom without a view, so the window looked out at a building being renovated. That didn’t change how nice and spacious the room was, especially compared with its picture.

I’ve never stayed in a worse hotel. The room was dirty, the floor was rotten, the bedding was damp, and there was mold in the bathroom. The website photos gave no real idea of the condition. Noise came straight in because the balcony door blocked none of it.

The traffic outside can be loud, so bring earplugs. Still, I loved having a balcony over the lively square, and the beds were cozy. The location is fantastic, and the staff made the stay feel special. Thanks to Fatma, Noura, Mohamed, and Ahmed for looking after us around the clock. I’ll be back.
