Victory Downtown Boutique Hotel

For a single night it was decent enough, though you get what you pay for. The customer service was good, but the rooms didn’t look like the advertised photos. We had a shower drain problem that flooded the small bathroom, then came back from dinner to find our room without power. The Wi-Fi was very unreliable too.

The hosts were understanding, and we managed to cancel the booking amicably. I cancelled as soon as I saw the building and room. The room was tiny, old, not very clean, and extremely cheap-looking, with a view straight onto a dirty backyard wall about a meter away. I wouldn’t recommend it as a three-star hotel. If it were advertised as a very cheap hostel, I wouldn’t have complained, but calling it three-star felt like a scam.

We booked Victory Downtown Boutique Hotel through Hotels.com with payment due at the hotel, but on arrival staff said the reservation had been canceled because we chose that option. We’d received no cancellation notice beforehand. Shortly after we left, a cancellation email arrived, so it seemed the booking was canceled only after we showed up. It made us wonder if the room had been given to someone paying cash. They sent us to another property that was far below what we expected and clearly wasn’t a comparable replacement. The whole thing left us frustrated and feeling deceived. Their lack of transparency and professionalism was unacceptable, and we wouldn’t recommend staying there.

The photos are false, and the building was dirty, old, run-down, and felt completely unsafe. The room was a filthy hole with a bathroom that was basically unusable. Showering flooded the whole room. When I asked for a toilet brush, they took one out of a closet, handed it to me, and told me to bring it back. We were left in total darkness in the room for 40 minutes. The blankets were tiny, more like something for a five-year-old, so our legs stuck out while we slept. There were mosquitoes everywhere, alive and dead on the walls. Staff were extremely rude and seemed ready to rip us off over anything, with no empathy or apology. The Wi-Fi was completely useless. This was the worst place I’ve almost slept in, and it should be banned.
