Desert Moon

The view is spoiled by the highway and the general atmosphere. We also found it too rough to walk around the area, and getting an Uber was a nightmare: drivers kept getting the exact address wrong and wanted us to meet them on the main highway, which felt dangerous. Inside, the fixtures and fittings were poor, the beds terrible, the showers rubbish, and breakfast below standard. The people running the place seemed nice and were trying to earn a living, but I don't think it's suitable for anyone except budget backpackers. I have to advise people not to stay until the place is made fit for purpose. I suspect the positive reviews are either from budget travelers with low expectations or people asked to post good reviews to boost the rating.

The team reached out before we arrived to see if I needed help, and they were always on hand to respond quickly to any questions or requests. After traveling around the world so much, I've never had this kind of hospitality from a hotel. The terrace was nicely decorated, cool, and had an amazing view, a great place to unwind after a long day in Cairo's busy streets. My stay felt like home, thanks to the welcoming staff. I'd highly recommend Desert Moon Hotel.

From our room and the rooftop, there was a beautiful, direct view of the Pyramids. Great service too.

We spent three delightful nights here during our Cairo visit, and it was a memorable stay. I especially enjoyed the fresh orange juice and crispy falafel. The rooftop restaurant had breathtaking pyramid views that made dinner unforgettable, and the staff were wonderfully courteous and accommodating.
