The rooftop restaurant has a view of the pyramids, and the rooms were spacious and clean. This is a friendly, professional local hotel in Giza, within walking distance of the new Grand Egyptian Museum and near a local neighbourhood. The weak Wi-Fi was the main drawback and really needs attention. The restaurant food was good and fairly priced, including Egyptian lentil soup, chicken breast, and beef stroganoff. The EGP 300 buffet breakfast also had a good range. A pleasant stay overall.

The staff were attentive and always ready with a smile, whether we needed help, directions, or an answer to a question. Our cozy, comfortable room had a breathtaking view of the Giza Pyramids, and the facilities were fantastic. Breakfast was enjoyable and well prepared. We spent about three nights here this December while visiting Cairo, and found the location convenient for both the Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum. We really enjoyed the stay and highly recommend it.

I’m still here, and this is just about the Wi-Fi for now. I’m using my eSIM data. Remote work or gaming isn’t really possible: the connection is extremely slow or absent, and drops when the phone goes into saver mode. Room 501 had strong Wi-Fi in every corner on the first night. In 203 on the second night, the signal was spotty and didn’t work for my friend. The third night, in 204, it was very slow except in the washroom. You might wonder why we changed rooms every night. That’s a story for another time. After our Nile cruise, we stayed in 409. The Wi-Fi there was strong and steady. Shower pressure was a little low but acceptable. After our white desert trip, we were back in 204. Wi-Fi was still lousy, though the water pressure was very good. There still wasn’t enough hot water for three of us to shower one after another. Our tour operator says Saray is rated four stars locally. By international standards, I’d say it’s closer to two.

The staff were always friendly and willing to help, and the building and rooms felt clean and new. Our tea and coffee supplies were topped up each morning, along with two bottles of water after housekeeping. The price was good, and the hotel felt safe. It’s fairly close to the pyramids and the new grand meuseum, away from a busy, noisy spot. You can see the pyramids from the rooftop restaurant, though the room window looks onto a highway and someone’s back yard. A few things could be better. The shower has only a glass screen, and since its floor is level with the bathroom floor, water gets everywhere. The new aircon never got warm for some reason. Breakfast could use more hot dishes, and it would be nice if the cakes, pastries, juice flavours, and cereal changed. We were told cappuccinos and hot chocolate cost extra, so tea, coffee, or juice were the included choices.

Saray is close to both the Giza pyramids and the newly opened GEM, and the rooftop restaurant looks out toward both. The staff were friendly, though slow to deal with our requests. The rooms and service left a lot to be desired. The bed sheets and covers felt like sandpaper, and basic amenities weren’t provided unless we asked repeatedly, sometimes making five requests and walking to reception. The room layout was odd, with big pillars in the middle. On the first floor, the windows are at a strange height, so if you look out, someone might be right there smoking and staring back. If you stay here, make sure you get an upper-floor room facing the pyramid, not for the limited view, but to avoid noise from the main road. Don’t accept a first-floor room. In our opinion, this is a two-star hotel.
