Pyramids lounge

We arrived at 12:30 and ordered straight away, but our food didn’t come until 1:42. While we waited, an older group got served immediately, and it felt like our group in our 20s wasn’t being taken seriously. The lemon mint drinks tasted like lemon juice and water, and staff refused to replace them, saying we’d still have to pay. One friend got white sauce pasta instead of the red sauce they ordered. When we pointed it out, the server argued and gave us attitude before finally changing it. There was a hair in the food, and both the glasses and plastic cups were dirty. The food tasted like airplane food. We paid and left as soon as we saw the hair. The servers were rude, and no one should have to pay after such a disgusting experience. They chased us outside and offered more lemon mint drinks as an apology, but we didn’t want anything else from that kitchen. A hair in the food is a health hazard. Don’t come here.

I’ve visited this place several times and never had this kind of treatment before. Lunch today was a poor experience, and I won’t be back anytime soon. The food took far too long, and the sides arrived well before it. Dogs gathered around our table while we ate, and although five employees watched, no one helped chase them away. Nobody checked whether we needed anything. At 4:00, the server brought the bill. When I asked about dessert, I was told it was too late, even though the website says they’re open until 5:00 pm. My husband pointed out that with lunch served on time, we could have had dessert. Only after he asked for a manager did an employee offer to get it, but I was too disappointed to accept. Maybe management has changed. At least the pyramids kept the outing from being a total disaster.

We had no trouble booking for our group of 15, which included different ages and nationalities. We even called a couple of times to add people, and the call center was friendly, polite, and helpful. The panoramic view of the Pyramids is incomparable, and we enjoyed a relaxed breakfast without hassling or bargaining. Service was quick, and every waiter was cheerful, kind, capable, and accommodating, especially Makarios. The Egyptian breakfast was excellent, with the fetir as the meal’s best part. We liked it more than the Western food. Everyone had a great time, and we’d definitely come again.

The lentil salad was good, and the shish tawook tasted nice, though it was very dry. The fries were soggy, the vegetables seemed barely grilled after being boiled, and the food arrived cold, a complaint I’d seen in other reviews too. The view is the main draw, but with so many rows of tables, you may not get a good one. Service was practically nonexistent: no menu was brought, nobody mentioned the QR code hidden in the table corner, and our table wasn’t cleared. I don’t understand the 12% service charge, 14% sales tax, and separate cover charge. There are rooftop restaurants in Giza with better food and views for less.
