Caves Beach Resort - Adults Only

We had a fantastic, safe holiday in the sun at a great price, and we’d definitely return. Caves Resort is quirky and fun, with its prehistoric Flintstones feel turned all the way up. The cave-themed bedrooms still have all the modern comforts. Service was excellent, and the staff were superb and polite. The food had lots of variety and was made with taste. The only disappointment was the music and entertainment. Sorry, guys, but having 20-year-olds plan it for guests aged 40-70 didn’t work.

The beach was my favorite spot. It’s peaceful, and if you put your hat over your face, staff selling trips and spa services won’t bother you. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone after a quirky stay, and I’d come back. The rooms were cleaned daily, the pools were lovely and clean, and the chilled pool had more relaxing music than the loud main pool. Our cleaner Mahmood was sweet and helped make us comfortable. All the staff were welcoming and worked hard, and when we had a problem with the lock box, they came right away to fix it. The food was fresh, tasty, and varied, and the à la carte restaurants were superb. Cocktails were lovely too. Entertainment was good, but the space was too small for the number of guests, so finding a seat was difficult. Like at most hotels, people put towels out early, so you need to wake up early to get a pool spot. Don’t let the negative reviews put you off. For the price, it’s exceptional. The dust in the room was actually sand, since the hotel is right opposite a desert.

The resort itself is beautiful and the facilities are great, which made our experience with the heated pool service even more disappointing. We repeatedly asked the waiter for a Coke and a Fanta. He said he would bring them “when he can,” but after a long wait they never arrived. When we asked for an ashtray, he said it wasn’t his job and told us to find one ourselves. We also felt we were treated differently from other guests: their cocktails came in large glasses, while ours were always served in small ones. That left us with a strong impression of intentional, discriminatory treatment. The waiter came across as rude and arrogant, and this kind of conduct is unacceptable and unprofessional for a hotel of this level. It spoiled the stay, and we expect management to take the complaint seriously and act on it.

We had a lovely stay in a clean, happy resort with a great atmosphere, and we loved seeing that the resort cats are well cared for. The food was a real highlight: the pastries at the clean Main Restaurant were worth trying, Pebbles served amazing Asian food cooked in front of us, and the fish grill at Bam Bam was delicious. We also enjoyed the burgers and chips at Betty’s Bar. Bedrock Bay was our favorite pool. It’s heated, has a great swim-up bar, and even has a pool table in the water. Mohamed/Mahmoud, the pool attendant, was incredibly welcoming and helped us get the best sunspots each day. Manuel at the bar kept the drinks stocked and served great toasties. Arrival was smooth, and the welcome drink was a nice touch. We stayed in Block 4000, which is a bit of a walk, though the grounds are pleasant and well maintained. A couple of things could be better. The entertainment area feels dated and fills up quickly, so arrive early or you may end up sitting on sun loungers. Drink service there was slower than at the bars. The mattresses and pillows were extremely hard, and we struggled to sleep until we swapped pillows with friends. A small update to the adult entertainment would help make the place feel perfect.
