El Karma Aqua Beach Resort (Ex. Nubia)

Some of the furniture is a little dated, but the place isn't a new build and it's very well maintained. The resort is clean, and the staff look after it and go out of their way to help with anything. SAYED, from the main and beach bars, is an amazing person who does the resort proud. You really have to visit to see for yourself how wonderful everyone there is. A true example of Egyptian hospitality.

The themed dinners gave us something different to look forward to each night, with Chinese, international, and Indian food. There was plenty of tasty food and drink to choose from with the all-inclusive option. We also liked the shisha bar in the evenings, with its nice atmosphere and good-quality herbal shisha. The staff were friendly and attentive, always willing to help. We had a lovely stay in Hurghada, and it felt like good value for money. A very relaxing place to unwind.

We'd booked this as a last-minute trip and felt looked after the whole time. The entertainment team were spot on, with great English, always smiling and getting us involved all day. They even got us on stage most nights. The food was clean and hygienic, with a decent variety to pick from, and the bar and customer care staff couldn't do enough for us. Their English was great too. We also met one of the brothers who owns the hotel. He explained everything we needed to know, offered to bring us whatever we needed, and shared some great life advice. The drinks weren't the nicest, but you get that anywhere in a foreign country. My girlfriend and I only just got back, and this was one of the best holidays we've had. We couldn't fault the place otherwise.

My children got sick, one with food or water poisoning and the other with an eye infection. The two pools marked as ready for swimming were dirty and badly cleaned, and one pool was closed. The soft drinks from the tap included in the all-inclusive package tasted like pool water, so we only drank bottled drinks. The beach was clean and nicely organised, but the water was muddy and stayed shallow for too long, so we couldn't swim. Everyone demands tips, even for poor or no service. The resort itself isn't worth two stars, and I don't understand how We love Holidays gave it four. Air Cairo wasn't recommended either: the ventilation didn't work properly, and it was either too hot or too cold, with no middle setting. People there are ruining their own tourism industry. I won't be going back. Everyone seemed corrupt, from the airport police and security guards to the transport staff and others.
