We had a Nile view balcony that was perfect for relaxing in the afternoon, and the pools were spacious and just the right temperature. From the moment we arrived, Mohamed #1, Ezz made us feel like treasured guests. He was welcoming every time we came back and made sure we had what we needed. The resort is lovely beside the Nile. In the distance you can see the Valley of the Kings, and hot air balloons rise each morning. Our room was a good size and nicely furnished, with a comfortable bed and high quality linen. Breakfast had a great selection of fresh fruit, breads, pastries, Egyptian specialties, omelettes made fresh, meats, cheeses, and even a chocolate fountain. We ate twice at Olives, the open air restaurant by the Nile, and had dessert there too. Maomen and Mohammed were gracious, helpful servers. There are also nice gift shops and three cash machines.

The room felt dated and was pretty small. The bathroom was so compact that only one person could use it at a time, and the balcony was tiny too. Still, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and breakfast had a decent range of choices, more than I expected. The location worked well for sightseeing, just a short ride from the Valley of the Kings and Karnak Temples. If you get up around 6:30 in the morning, you may see hot air balloons drifting across the sky.

Sandy and Islam at the Sunset Bar made our stay especially enjoyable. They were warm, professional, and went out of their way to keep us comfortable. Their smiles were a lovely touch while we watched the sunset. As a Diamond member, I also appreciated the complimentary drinks served there each day from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. It became a peaceful part of the afternoon. The Hilton Luxor Resort & Spa has stylish buildings and pools, with a polished resort feel and calm Nile views. We had a spectacular stay and would gladly return. For a high end, peaceful break in Luxor with very good service, this was a great choice.

Islam at the pool bar was great with us, and he's an excellent barman. A lot of the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel has potential, but some things really let it down. Our third floor room needed refurbishing, and although it faced the Nile, dirty windows spoiled the view. Dinner at Olives was average at best. My husband ordered the mixed grill, but much of the meat was too tough for him to eat. Service was extremely slow, and the restaurant uses the same menu as the pool restaurant during the day, so dinner didn't feel special. There are only two lifts. One was out of order during our stay, and the other broke down for a while with a guest trapped inside. For a hotel this size, more lifts are needed. At busy times there was chaos, with people moving heavy cases.

Ahmed Ibrahim at the concierge desk went above and beyond and made our stay feel special. We were glad we picked Hilton Luxor for our time in Luxor. The food at the restaurants was great, and we liked the relaxed feel and lovely views at the casual Fateer house. The spa pool was a favorite spot for unwinding.
