The room was dirty and everything was broken. The balcony faced the street, which was horribly loud, and our kids couldn’t sleep. There’s a mosque opposite, and it was very loud at four in the morning and all the time. The pool was dirty too. The owner was creepy, asking all about our lives even after we said we needed some rest because we’d traveled all night. Breakfast was really bad, with old food and nothing to drink but tea and coffee. No child wants hot tea first thing in the morning. He charged us 200 EGP for extra drinks but hadn’t told us about the charge beforehand. It was horrible.

The staff were lovely, friendly, and really helpful. They made our time in Luxor more memorable. I also loved the retro feel, it’s definitely a unique place.

The rooms were fine, but the manager at reception made the stay a bad experience. He kept asking guests, including me, intrusive personal questions that had nothing to do with the service. He was noisy and crossed boundaries. It felt like he was asking just to get information and money from people. I wouldn’t return to a place with a nosy manager like that and suggest going somewhere else. If you do stay here, don’t answer his questions and make it clear they’re none of his business.

At Shadi Hotel, the service felt like five-star service despite the hotel’s three-star rating. The room had excellent infrastructure, a fridge, coffee machine, hairdryer, and comfortable elevators, and there was a great swimming pool. Everyone was extremely friendly and offered help sincerely, without acting as if it were an obligation. Mr. Abdullah, the hotel manager, checked on the service regularly himself, which gave us a strong sense of familiarity with the place and the people. Shadi Hotel provides a high level of comfort and luxury at a very reasonable price.
