Lotus Luxor Hotel

The room was dusty and had a slight musty smell. The hotel’s facilities were dated, the lighting dim, and the Wi-Fi somewhat slow. We’d come from Aswan early that morning and stayed just one night in Luxor, so it was acceptable for a short stay. At least the shower had hot water. I hope the hotel makes improvements so future guests can be more comfortable.

The hotel itself is nice, but the room service is awful and the menu is terrible. It’s the same mediocre Mediterranean food you can find anywhere else. The breakfast buffet was bad too, with no proper coffee machine there, just hot water and instant coffee, though there was a machine at the bar. The only decent part of breakfast was being able to get an omelette. It feels like the hotel is cutting corners wherever it can. Even in the room, there were glasses instead of proper coffee mugs.

Be ready for a hidden 27% charge: 14% VAT plus another 12% “Service Tax.” That service charge wasn’t itemized on the invoice. Another warning sign is that this may be the only 4-star hotel in the world that doesn’t take VISA. That alone says a lot to me. VISA requires organized accounting, transparency, and financial accountability. They only accept cash. AVOID THIS HOTEL.

The place was dirty, the furniture was damaged, and breakfast was low quality. I could write a lot about how bad this hotel is. Three stars? Come on!
