Porto matrouh

The view of the sea from the room is fantastic, and the pool area is well kept. The private beach is also lovely, with umbrellas, chairs, and lifeguards who pay attention and step in when needed. You get there by shuttle since the hotel has no direct beach access. Breakfast and dinner were both nice, with tasty food and plenty of choice. The chefs, restaurant managers, and waiters do a great job serving and cleaning. The hotel itself feels badly dated and needs renovation. Although the rooms are spacious, they weren’t very clean or updated, the surfaces felt sticky, and the sheets smelled bad. Hot or cold water kept failing because of old infrastructure, broken boilers, and pipes that didn’t work, despite staff trying to fix it. Many things were broken or half broken, and there was rubbish around some areas. Several shops and restaurants on the grounds are now closed and empty. Some staff speak only a little English, while others don’t speak it. It could work for a night or two while traveling to Siwa, but I wouldn’t choose it for a week’s holiday.
