Casa Rural Las Martas

My family and I spent three days here in June. The house was cozy and clean, and the location was perfect. The mother and daughter who hosted us were very attentive. We’d happily stay again if we came back.

We stayed in the superior apartment and found it much more spacious than expected, especially the bathroom. The rustic feel made it a very cozy place for a relaxing getaway. Everything was carefully thought through and very clean, and the new, high-quality mattresses meant we slept really well. Anastasio and Ángela were lovely and attentive hosts. I’d read several reviews mentioning phone coverage, and it’s true: there’s no signal in the village unless you’re with Movistar or Vodafone. But I think that’s part of the point of a rural stay, to disconnect. We’ll be back!

The location is excellent, right in the center of the beautiful village of Acebo in the Sierra de Gata mountains. The village is lively, with orange and olive groves nearby, and there’s a crystal-clear river just 1.5 km away where swimming is a delight. There are lots of hiking trails and excursions in the area, and it’s all beautiful. There are two rural apartments, each with two bedrooms. Five of us stayed in one apartment with an extra bed, and it was well equipped and spotlessly clean. The service was excellent.

The house is well located, though the stairs can be awkward with lots of luggage. Our four-person apartment was fine, with a small living room and kitchen, two spacious bedrooms, very comfortable beds and pillows, and one bathroom. The kitchen had what we needed. Breakfast was included: cartons of milk, a loaf of bread, a small jar of coffee, and butter, jams and pâtés. It was not bad. What I really disliked was the dish sponge they left for washing up. It was quite worn, especially since guests are likely to use the kitchen and have breakfast there. They should replace the cleaning supplies for each guest, and above all, not leave dirty, used oil in an oil cruet.
