Hotel Baobab Suites

The staff are what make this place. I’ve never stayed at a hotel with a friendlier, more welcoming team. Fabio at reception was great and couldn’t do enough for us, and Vadim in the BB Lounge was the star of the show, an outstanding host. We stayed for 14 days and can’t wait to go back. It certainly feels like a 5* hotel. Breakfast was extensive, though as a British guest I’d have liked a warm plate for my full English. The eggs, bacon, and other items were a bit lukewarm.

The pool was spotless and amazing. From my front door the gym looked out of this world, and the paddle board courts and spin studio looked amazing too. If fitness is your thing, you should love the gym. We stayed on a bed-and-breakfast basis and used the buffet often. There was loads of choice, though the coffee could be better. The tea was English breakfast, which isn’t my cup of tea, but you can bring your own if you prefer what you’re used to. Everyone working there was friendly, professional, and accommodating. The apartments were lovely, and I’d definitely stay again. The beds were too hard for me. I’d have liked a king-size bed with one firm side and one soft side, or the option of asking for a memory foam topper. I also didn’t like being asked for a refundable €200 deposit on arrival. I understand why they do it, but I didn’t like it.

Our suite was comfortable, with sitting areas both indoors and outside, plus a handy desk in case we needed to work. We were welcomed with fresh flowers, fruit, and wine, and received a lovely gift when we left. The staff were professional, always smiling, and very helpful with anything we needed. A fantastic experience all around. Congrats.

Baobab Suites is a beautiful hotel, with spacious rooms and great views, but problems during the first part of our five-night stay affected the whole experience. We were travelling with our six-year-old daughter. The balcony had gaps on both sides, which concerned us with a young child. The main pools were also very cold, even though we’d been looking forward to a warm pool on a family trip. One evening, the lifts serving our floor stopped working and we had to take the stairs. The way it was handled was poor, and our daughter was unsettled when the lift shaft was opened in front of us while the lift was out of service. On the first night, the room heating didn’t work, despite what we’d been told at check-in. The room got extremely cold, and we had to call reception late at night. We were told maintenance had to activate the system manually and were given a small portable heater, but it didn’t warm the room properly. We spent much of the first two days trying to get these problems resolved instead of enjoying the facilities. After a lot of back and forth, the Assistant Director met with us and offered a complimentary dinner as a goodwill gesture, which we appreciated. Even so, that didn’t feel like enough for the disruption to the start of a holiday at a 5-star property.
