Apartamentos Mirablau

The apartment had some strange design choices. There was a connecting door to the unit next door, apparently intended for families or friends, but it was an entrance door with a peephole. A small piece of tape was all that stopped us from looking through. And the skylight gave a spectacular view of the toilet, so you could watch your partner sit on the Roca throne. We paid €88 a night, which felt outrageous for what was offered. They never offered a discount or any other compensation for the leaks. There were basic things missing too, like a clothesline and even a simple coffee maker, and they hadn’t provided a couple of rubbish bags or kitchen towels for our week’s stay. We booked through Booking.com thinking we’d rented a first-floor studio. Instead, we were given a ground-floor apartment, with street noise and sounds from the building entrance. At reception they said, as though the cleaning lady had only just noticed, that the air conditioner was leaking. The mold around it made it look like an old issue. They didn’t mention the huge leak in the middle of the ceiling. The owner said he’d call a plumber after we complained, but it kept leaking all week, so I doubt anyone came. At night the constant dripping was bad enough, and we could hear the neighbors next door as if they were in our apartment, even though they weren’t especially loud. Flushing upstairs sounded like Niagara Falls, and conversations from other guests came through the bathroom ventilation ducts.
