Royal Son Bou Family Club

We loved our holiday at the Royal Son Bou Family Club. It’s right in front of a wonderful beach, and the facilities and service were great. The staff were brilliant and very helpful, the food was delicious with plenty of variety, and the club had fantastic activities for the little ones.

This is our favourite choice for the main summer holiday, and we’ll be back for the fifth time since 2019. It’s set up to make children of all ages feel welcome, with easy beach access, a big pool, entertainment for kids all day, and good food. Some rooms feel a bit dated, though the hotel has been renovating regularly.

You really don’t need to leave this family-friendly resort. The beach is right at the doorstep, there’s a heated pool, and activities and shows for kids are included. The staff are so warm and friendly. Rooms are spacious and have useful things for families, like a high chair, baby bath, kitchen with microwave, and an extra sink for toddlers. Highly recommend.

The rooms are clean and well maintained, and the best thing about the hotel is still its fantastic spot next to the beautiful Son Bou beach. We don’t know another hotel in the area with such easy access to that beach. Even so, after this stay we’re unsure about choosing it again. We’ve fallen in love with Menorca and would happily return to the island, but the shortcomings are hard to accept at these rates and for the standards expected here. They might be understandable at a cheaper, lower-category hotel. This is our second visit. Our first was excellent and left us with such good memories that we gladly came back, but this year was disappointing. The restaurant seems understaffed. The staff are friendly, polite, and hardworking, so it’s not an issue with their attitude, just not enough people for the number of guests. Several times nobody served us, and we ate dinner without drinks. You can get water yourself at breakfast, but at lunch and dinner you have to wait for a waiter. More than once our drinks went to the wrong table. Food quality and variety have dropped noticeably since our 2025 stay. There’s much less to choose from, and empty trays often sat for a long time before being refilled. We were also surprised by how cold the pool was, and wondered if they’d reduced the heating to cut costs.
