Gran Hotel Albacete

The staff were friendly and gave helpful advice on places to eat and getting around. The hotel is right in the city centre, with everything about a 5-10 minute walk away, and there are some good breakfast spots nearby.

We spent three nights here and really enjoyed our stay. Everything was close by, service was available around the clock, and the rooms had all the appliances we needed. It made for a lovely, memorable holiday.

The rooms have a decent amount of space, although the furniture feels a little dated. It’s a nice area, with a small park outside, and the station is a 10-minute walk away. A good choice if you don’t have a car.

The air conditioning was basically either on or off. Adjusting the temperature made no difference, and the room got too hot in November. The pillows were like rocks, which I know isn’t unusual in Europe, but I expected much better at a four-star hotel. Service also fell short of that level, including not having someone who spoke actual English. I booked through the hotel website and got a confirmation, but it didn’t mention that the street was inaccessible by car because of construction. We couldn’t drop off our bags and drove in circles looking for nearby parking. There was no room service either. That doesn’t seem to be because of Covid, since the restaurant in the hotel isn’t controlled or owned by the hotel. For me, this wasn’t a four-star place, more like three.
