Hotel Alcala Plaza

The first room had urine stains on the toilet seat, even though a paper seal said it had been cleaned. The attendant was kind and offered another room, and we accepted despite my wife’s concern about the cleaning staff’s work not being checked. The second room looked like it had been missed during the last renovation: the carpet was stained, the smell of damp or something similar was unpleasant, and there was no Wi-Fi signal. I asked politely if another room was available on the same floor as the first, since the Wi-Fi had worked there. The attendant kindly offered a third room. It looked renovated, the AC worked, and the Wi-Fi signal was decent. But my wife checked the bathroom and found hair in the shower and what looked like a used feminine pad that hadn’t been flushed. The whole bathroom appeared uncleaned, as if the room had been skipped between guests. That was the last straw, and I asked to cancel our stay. All three rooms had problems, and the hotel clearly has no process for keeping them clean and healthy. One miss would be understandable, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. For anyone skeptical, I’m including a not-so-graphic photo of the toilet.

I stayed in early-mid June of this year. At first the room seemed average, but when I walked around and opened the cabinets, I found stains and a really strong marijuana smell. I spoke to the front desk, and they were very apologetic. Aside from that, it was a good stay.

Free parking is a nice bonus, and if you’re hungry there are a few places to eat, including a grill. The rooms are comfortable and clean, much as you’d expect from the hotel’s rating. Rooms with a bath tub have a much larger bathroom, but at the basic rate they’re limited to the corridor corners. I wouldn’t pick this place for dinner or breakfast.

The bed was the only decent part, with a comfortable mattress. Dinner and breakfast were awful, and for a whole morning meeting we got just one small bottle of water. The location is in the middle of an industrial estate, great for tourism! This was the worst company event I’ve attended in my life. Avoid it if you can.
