Hotel Roc Boccaccio

Julio hosted the daytime games and went out of his way to make things memorable, keeping everyone included and engaged. All the staff were friendly and accommodating, and the outdoor area was a lovely place to relax. We had a really enjoyable stay, with good-value all-inclusive food and drinks available throughout. The evening entertainment could use more variety, especially to appeal to younger guests and people who aren't Spanish. The rooms are quite small, so that may be worth considering for a longer stay. Thanks again to the staff.

The hotel had a really cool feel throughout, and the staff were friendly and polite. We went for five nights during half term on a last-minute bed-and-breakfast booking, staying in a one-bedroom apartment. The rooms looked recently renovated, the beds were comfortable enough, and the kitchen had what we needed. Breakfast offered just about everything, and the restaurant seating area looked trendy and nicely updated. It was very quiet because the hotel was nearly closing for winter, but all the amenities were still available and there was entertainment in the bar every night. For the price, I can’t really fault it.

The rooms are on the small side, though they were fine for our short four-day break. We went all-inclusive to catch a bit of sun before winter gloom set in back home in the UK. There was usually a decent choice of meat and vegetables at meals; some dishes came around again, but that didn’t bother us much over a short stay. The staff were pleasant, and although we didn’t join any activities, the people running them seemed enthusiastic and full of energy. It’s good value for a brief getaway. I probably wouldn’t choose it for two weeks in peak season.

The rooms are tiny, with hardly any storage, and my husband bumped his head on the TV several times walking past the foot of the bed. The pool area is on the small side, though we had no trouble finding loungers. The terrace over the lake is a lovely suntrap, with about a dozen beds. We stayed for ten nights from late September into early October, and the hotel itself is lovely. Some of the information is unclear: Gelateria and La Luna bar seem to be presented as part of the all-inclusive plan, but they aren’t. The ice cream at Gelateria is worth paying a few euros for. La Luna is a paid bar with cocktails and branded drinks. You can sit inside, but if you go to the outdoor area, staff move you along. It shuts promptly at 11:30 and guests are told to leave right away. That felt uncomfortable, though we were fine sitting outside in the hotel area afterward. The food wasn’t as described. In my opinion it was two-star quality at best, with perhaps two evenings that might rate three stars, nowhere near four. Staff service was mixed. Housekeeping were lovely and always smiled, and reception gave great, very helpful service. Two of the regular bar staff were great too. The dining room staff never cracked a smile, and one young man was quite rude to me personally, although he did apologize. I appreciated the no-smoking policy. I smoke, and was happy to use the smokers’ corner. Who wants to be surrounded by second-hand smoke? The food, cramped rooms and lack of manners mean I wouldn’t stay here again.
