We had a fantastic stay at Zafiro Tropic, and the penthouse suite was amazing. There was a great selection of pools, including one for adults, a children's bubble pool that our son loved, and our own private jacuzzi. The buffet food was excellent, and our son was especially keen on the desserts, though dishes weren't always labelled. The hotel staff also gave us complimentary sparkling wine for my partner's 50th birthday. Receptionists were welcoming, friendly and helpful. I did make an effort to speak Spanish, so it would have been nice if more of them had replied in Spanish; the same was true in the restaurant, where only a few staff did.

The rooms were a little tired looking, though very clean. Sandra was especially caring and helpful, always greeting everyone with a lovely smile. Staff in general were friendly and went out of their way, and there was a good range of food. The children were kept entertained all the time, making this a lovely family break. I'd recommend it for a family holiday.

The evening shows were a hit with our kids. The children's programme followed a familiar routine, which they knew to expect: Yssy the Koala came out with his pirate friends to dance, then there was a quiz. Later shows changed each night, with a band, flamenco dancers, a magician, fire eaters or acrobats. Staff put little seats right in front of the stage for the kids, giving them a great view. Children are clearly considered in everything at Zafiro Tropic, and we'd happily come back. The hotel has plenty for kids to do, with a playground by the children's pool, including a trampoline, seesaw and little-kid-friendly climbing frame, plus another swing park just outside the grounds. The kids' pool has slides in different sizes for different ages. There's also an adults-only pool, screened by a fence and hedge, that stays calm and quiet even right beside the children's area. An indoor pool is there too, and when we went on a particularly hot day, we had it all to ourselves. It's about a five-minute walk to a sandy beach where the sea stays shallow quite far out. We also found lots of shops and restaurants just a few minutes from the hotel, plus a small hotel shop stocked with useful things like snacks, drinks, beach toys, sunscreen and souvenirs. The buffet was consistently good, with a decent range. The restaurant team were incredibly friendly, especially with younger children, and went out of their way to make them feel welcome. Staff stopped to greet and chat with the kids every day. Everything in the area opens at 10 and closes at 6, which worked perfectly for our young family and kept the nights quiet. Zafiro Tropic is a genuinely family-friendly place, and I'd highly recommend it.

The pools shut around 5:30-6 pm, but we still found plenty to do during our week. I was there with my partner and our grandchildren, aged 6 and 8, and we only left the resort twice. The beach and shops are close by. We had half board and really enjoyed the food. After one meal out cost us 100 euros, we made the most of eating at the hotel. Our room was cleaned daily apart from Wednesday and Sunday. A great holiday.

The staff were friendly and professional, and clearly put a lot of effort into their work. Meal service was spot on, and we had a lovely family holiday at Zafiro Tropic. We did have two slow evenings during the entertainment: one time our three drinks took over 30 minutes, and another night they never arrived during a 45-minute show, so we cancelled the order. A larger choice of two-bedroom suites would be welcome, as we felt squeezed into the one-bedroom suite. We'd happily come back.
