The hike suggestions were a real highlight, especially the “vulture cliffs” and the ghost towns nearby. The food was delicious and at least partly grown locally, and the service was great. It feels like a mystical place where time slows down. Getting there takes a while, but a swim in the lake at night makes the trip worth it.

The place has a good atmosphere, with spacious rooms, friendly hosts, and good hygiene. It’s also kid friendly. The location is lovely, though it’s about a 30-minute drive along a single-lane road to get anywhere. Food isn’t cheap, but it’s good, and €21 for three courses doesn’t seem excessive. Still, restaurant service can be slow and meal times may get delayed if the staff feel like it. With no other options nearby, it was frustrating when our six-year-old didn’t get food until 10 pm. Dogs also barked through the night, which made sleep difficult. There’s no WiFi, which some people might see as a plus.

It’s very remote, with beautiful trails all around, a lovely place to swim in the lake, and a wonderful night sky. The atmosphere is relaxed and everyone was very friendly. There are plenty of animals too, including dogs and donkeys. My double room was in one of the newer buildings, around 20 years old at most, and was quite nice. A couple of things were off, though: the ventilation smelled, and one outlet didn’t work. The biggest drawback was the cost of even a simple lunch or dinner. Breakfast was okay, but eating three meals a day there would have cost almost as much as the room. Since everything else is a 30-plus-minute drive away, bring your own cold food if you can. I hadn’t come prepared.

The night sky was beyond anything I’d imagined, and it must be a fantastic place for an astronomer. The water is just as good for swimming as the pictures suggest. It’s a wonderful escape from the busy world, and I’d happily return. The food was great, but ask for local dishes. On our first night they seemed to assume we were Brits abroad, so we got steak and chips. It was lovely after that. I’d skip the house red, though, it tasted like battery acid and Ribena. This place is properly off grid, with solar power and a generator, so there’s no air conditioning or fans. During a 40°C heatwave, our room stayed above 31°C, and dogs barked all night because of the boar in the area, so we hardly slept. I’d avoid coming if you know it’ll be that hot.

Great facilities and location, and the staff were friendly and helpful. 10/10. Gracias mucho.
