Hotel La Raposera

We felt it was more like a four star place, having stayed at other four star hotels on Spain’s Atlantic Coast, so I don’t understand why it’s rated three stars. La Raposera is tastefully decorated and kept in mint condition. The homemade breakfasts were lovely, and Inés and Paloma’s service and smiles made us feel very welcome. We had a wonderful time.

Hotel La Raposera is a hidden gem. The attention to detail is clear everywhere in this beautifully cared-for hotel, and I highly recommend a visit. We were met on arrival by the charming owner, Ines. The hotel is a historic landmark, one of the “Casonas de Indianos,” large houses found around this area. A few have become hotels, but I doubt many are decorated as gracefully as La Raposera. The original house has been perfectly maintained, with lovely antiques and stylish country furnishings that feel elegant without being old or stuffy. Its glass sunroom is a peaceful place to sit with tea and enjoy classical music, with countryside views and the sea on the horizon. Nights are wonderfully quiet, making for some of the most relaxing sleep you’ve had in a long time. The included breakfast is a feast, with locally sourced organic fruit, tomatoes, toast, jams, cold cuts, homemade cakes, coffee and tea, all presented beautifully. The hotel is full of peace and tranquillity, just right for a relaxing escape.

We got home tonight and already miss the place. La Raposera is a lovely old colonial house in Caravia, a beautiful little Asturian village facing the sea. It’s close to everything and makes a great base for exploring the region. Inês was an amazing host, full of helpful tips and great energy. The stay was really inspiring, thank you.

A lovely rural hotel in a stunning setting, with magnificent ocean views. It’s well connected to the coastline, and there are plenty of great restaurants nearby. 100% recommended.
