The staff were nice, and I liked the seating area out back. The location was good too, right next to the lovely town of Alella. But the thin walls meant we could hear our neighbours beside and above us, and the shower had no door, curtain, or stopper, so water covered the floor every time. I had to mop it up with clean towels. When I mentioned it at the front desk, they said there wasn't much they could do. A door, higher stopper, or curtain would have helped. I couldn't use the AC because the thermostat was locked. Those few annoyances added up to an unpleasant stay, and to me this felt more like a 3-star hotel than a 4-star one.

Getting into Barcelona was a downside: the hotel is far from the city center, public transport takes about a 20-minute walk to reach, and the only taxi option was a local private cab costing around €40 one way to Las Ramblas. The hotel itself is above average, with clean rooms. The breakfast buffet costs extra and has limited choices. Also, the toilet is separated by a tiny glass wall that's only partly painted, which could make privacy awkward when sharing with friends, family, or colleagues.

The WiFi wasn't usable until morning. The room had the bathroom sink right in front of the bed, and the restaurant was terrible. I ordered grilled steak, which I think had been reheated in a microwave.

The highway runs right beside the hotel, so sleeping with the window open is out of the question. The rooms were small and not very clean, with the sink in front of the bed. Parking costs 15€ a day, which I think is outrageously expensive. For what you get, the place is very expensive.
