Hostal Javier

The apartment itself was clean, I'll give them that, but it was a one room place quite a way from the restaurant where we checked in. The beds were hard, noisy and uncomfortable. There was a towel over the shower drain with no explanation, so I left it there and ended up flooding the bathroom. Rainwater came in under the front door all night, and we used another towel to mop it up. There was no hair dryer, which was a problem for me, and really no amenities. For €157, it wasn't worth it. We would have been better off in a proper hotel somewhere else. We had a dog, and after paying €147 for the place, Javier wanted another €10 plus a €100 cash deposit. He said it would be returned in the morning after an inspection. We planned to leave at 8am, but he said he couldn't come until 10. We were ready to find another place, so he agreed that the woman with us could come back at 8 to check the apartment. At the same time, he told her to say that we had to respect the rules and he wouldn't refund us if we left. We stayed, with checkout agreed for 8. She came at 7, then we waited until 8:30 to see her again. The check-in was confusing from the start. This isn't a hotel. We were sent to a restaurant, where people told us to contact Javier. He told us to speak to the restaurant again. We went back, and a woman who had spoken with Javier said she'd show us the apartment. I don't understand all the rave reviews, and honestly wonder if some are fake. The people who call Javier kind and helpful must have been at a different restaurant. Our experience was unhelpful service and too much money for too little. I'm sure he'll comment, but this is truthful. At 8:30, my husband already got an earful from the woman for supposedly submitting a bad review, though I hadn't done it yet. So we're ready to hear from him. If you deserve a bad review, accept it. It was not a pleasant stay, and the whole thing left me confused.
