Hotel Algorfa

We were charged too much at the end, after an evening that had already gone badly. Six of us went to Meaty Martes. The rare steak arrived well done, and as it was the last one, it couldn’t be replaced, so another dish had to be chosen. Every plate was missing something, and nobody seemed to be in charge. We waited 20 minutes before anyone took our drinks order, then another 20 for the drinks. Forty-five minutes after we ordered food, the server told us three items weren’t available. The food began arriving another 45 minutes later. The staff seemed overwhelmed, and there was clearly poor communication between the kitchen and front of house. I wrote to the owner afterwards and never even got an acknowledgement, let alone a reply. Absolutely awful.

You don’t have to go far from the hotel for a good time, but there are some nice bars nearby. The Corner Flag is especially good, with great food and a sports bar that’s still welcoming if you’re not into sports. Algorfa Village is also easy to reach, and there’s a supermarket about a 10-minute walk away. The hotel staff are a real asset. Deb, who serves in the bar area, is especially friendly and helpful, and has such a lovely nature. Tracy in the shop goes out of her way to help, too. Nothing seems like too much trouble for her. I can’t remember everyone’s names, but all the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Thank you!

We live next door, so I haven’t stayed there myself, but the entertainment is fabulous and the staff are so friendly. My family have stayed and said the rooms were great. I can’t recommend it enough. 😃

A lovely spot to sit and unwind, with a wonderful view of the mountains. I’ve only had a drink there, but the food is wonderful too. A must if you want to chill.
