Apartamentos Chinasol

The rooms are roomy and the views can be spectacular, with a great spot right by the water. The sound of the waves was so loud that I had to close the balcony windows. The hall carpets are a little worn, though. And if you'd like to run into Swedes, this is a good place for that.

The best thing was the view from our room on the 9th floor. I booked one night through Booking.com for the bonfire celebration on 23 June, and asked for a beach view so we could watch from the room if we didn't want to join the party. At check-in, the staff member pointed out that the room was just right for that, and it really was. The staff were lovely and helpful, and the price was the cheapest I found in Almunacar for that night. The hotel itself is quite out of date, though. The room was small, with old, damaged shower doors and wall buttons that seemed to do nothing. The kitchen was okay, but there were no dishwashing supplies, towels, a brush, or soap. There wasn't any hand or body wash in the shower either, so we had to ask reception for it. That was fine, but the dispensers should have been filled. It was supposed to be a suite with a kitchen. Still, we had an okay stay, and the staff did their best with what they had. Thanks for the stay and a great bonfire night 🔥.

The seaside spot worked well for us: the center is about a 10-minute walk away, and there's a supermarket nearby. We also enjoyed the 15-meter pool, good for a quick swim or some exercise. The building dates from the 1970s and looks a little dated, but it's in good shape, very clean, and well maintained, with yearly investments to meet current needs. The front desk staff were friendly and housekeeping was done well. We had a perfect holiday!

We ended up at Chinasol after work in the apartment we'd originally booked elsewhere in town meant we were offered this one instead. It was our first time in Almunecar, so the location didn't matter much to us, and the place turned out to be fabulous. Our apartment was clean and comfortable, the staff were welcoming, and the view was lovely. The beach was right at the door, with other amenities an easy walk away. Most important for us, dogs are welcome. Highly recommended.
