Ibersol Almuñecar Beach & Spa

The hotel’s reception staff were reliable and spoke and understood English well. The location is a big plus, right in central Almunecar, with a supermarket, restaurants, coffee shops and the coastal boulevard all an easy walk away. We stayed almost two weeks in summer with my son and some friends. The room was large, had a stunning window view, and was cleaned well. The food let the place down. There was enough variety, but the taste was unacceptable, with no flavour. I love soup, but couldn’t eat it there. Spain has so many fresh ingredients, so making good soup shouldn’t be an issue. The pool also needs renovation, as some ceramic pieces were falling off.

Almunecar is a really nice, clean resort with plenty of cultural history. The beaches are mostly pebbly, but the sea is lovely and clear. The hotel itself is clean and in a perfect spot. What disappointed me was the awful food on our all-inclusive stay.

The reception staff were kind, helpful and always smiling, and I appreciated how friendly and solution-oriented they were. I can’t say the same about the management. I tried several times to change things after booking, including at check-in, but once the free cancellation deadline had passed there was no flexibility, even though I asked early and reasonably. The hotel is very large and seems geared toward big tour groups arriving together by bus, including operators like TUI. If you want a quiet, peaceful, quality holiday, I’d look at other hotels in the area. There are better alternatives.

The staff were lovely and don’t expect tips. We had a beautiful view of the castle and sea from level 6. The food was fresh and healthy, and the hotel is right by the beach with everything we needed close by. We’d love to come again. Thank you from Ecaterina and family.
