Altea Puerto Playa

Congratulations to the new owners, and wishing them every success. I had a great overnight stay: friendly staff, especially Millie and Cristina, nice food, and great cocktails. The rooms were good and the shower was fab. I’ll visit again.

The location was great, and so were the photos on Booking.com, but the room in reality was smaller and less appealing than it looked online. It was fine for sleeping, but we didn’t want to spend time there. There was dust, signs of wear, and dirty glasses and spoons. The room had seen better days. At least it had fresh air, and you could open a door as a window. The hotel was really quiet, which helped, since we could hear voices from reception in our first-floor room. Traffic noise from outside didn’t come through. The service was nice, though staff didn’t speak much English, which wasn’t a problem. There was a terrace, but the restaurant was closed during our stay, so the chained chairs meant we couldn’t sit there. Parking in the marina area was free. The bed was the best part, comfortable to sleep in. I wouldn’t recommend a long stay if you want to enjoy your room, as there wasn’t enough space beside the bed and moving around was awkward.

The new owners have really changed things for the better. Breakfast was fantastic this morning, and the service was excellent. Very impressed 👍

The location is really good, and the food is good too, with prices that feel just right. For cocktails, this has to be the best spot on the Costa Blanca.
