The Camp de Mar Hotel & Resort

The room was spacious, modern and clean, and the staff were friendly and professional. Breakfast was the letdown: the one-button coffee machines were quick and maybe cheaper to run, but the coffee was really bad if you care about a good cup. The bar’s proper espresso machine doesn’t open until 11AM.

We had a great family stay. The rooms, facilities and cleanliness were all excellent, and the service was too. A big thank you for the kids’ club, which gave us parents some free time. The fitness gym deserves special mention as well.

The beach is about 300m away, and it’s a pleasant walk through really beautiful surroundings. It sits in a lovely bay, with a market, a couple of restaurants and a bar nearby. I’d come back here. The hotel itself is so quiet, which was my first impression. Our spacious, clean room had a terrace overlooking the pool, with a table and a daybed where you could nap outside. Mornings with coffee and birdsong were lovely. The air conditioning let you set your preferred temperature, and the beds were very comfortable. The minibar drinks were replenished daily and free. Breakfast was tasty, varied and self-service. Service was excellent, and I could see the pool being cleaned every day from our room. Beach towels were always available at the pool counter and could be changed daily. The pool bar food was delicious and service was fast, with dishes around 20e. One tip: buy drinking water at a supermarket, since the tap water isn’t suitable for drinking. Hotel water was 5.90e for 1l, compared with 1.50e at the market. All the best, 5 stars.

The food and service were good, but our whole group felt unwelcome. This seems to be an all-German hotel, with German signs and people, and they stared us up and down for being different. For Americans, and especially minorities, that made the stay uncomfortable. It’s also family-oriented, so not the place to come if you want to have fun. I wish I’d read the reviews before booking. We didn’t feel welcome because we weren’t German and didn’t fit the typical blonde-haired, blue-eyed look. I’d never stay here again.
