AC Hotel Atocha by Marriott

The rooms were appealing enough, and the staff have been somewhat helpful, but the temperature has made this a miserable stay. Our room stays very warm even at night, and the hotel has no fans. Someone from housekeeping came to “look at” the AC, but it’s switched on and nothing happens. We’ve had to sleep with the windows open for barely cool air, while listening to loud parties and garbage trucks at 1 am. Every day, there are sirens and the grating scrape of heavy metal tables and chairs being dragged across the pavement at the restaurant opposite, starting at 7:30 am and again at 12:30 at night. I’ve also had an allergy flare-up from basically sleeping outside in spring. The air conditioning is blasting freezing air in all the common spaces, but none reaches our room. I spent a lot of time researching Madrid hotels near the train station and without lots of temperature complaints before picking AC Hotel on Delicias. I wouldn’t stay here unless you don’t like sleeping.

The location is great, but the hotel is extremely overpriced. They did accommodate me by getting my room ready. Communication was inconsistent: at check-in, I was told breakfast would be included because of my status. The next morning I was charged 22 euros for an okay buffet, where the only coffee was from pods, basically instant coffee.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, with recommendations and quick check-in and checkout, and the hotel was quiet despite being so central. I stayed a couple of nights in January 2026, and the location was especially handy, just a 3-5 minute walk from Puerta de Atocha train station. Getting in from the airport and around the city was easy. The modern, stylish hotel had clean, spacious rooms, really comfortable beds, and a great rain shower. I liked the contemporary design. Breakfast had a nice range of fresh options, and the bar and lounge were great for a relaxing drink after a day out. The fitness centre was a plus, and the free WiFi worked well. Good value for a 4-star hotel in Madrid. I’d definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone arriving by train or wanting easy access to the Prado, Retiro Park, and the centre. ¡Gracias por una estancia fantástica!

The parking area is large, but charging an electric car requires an app that doesn’t work properly. Other hotels somehow manage to charge the car for you. Compared with other hotels, this place is honestly bad. Breakfast isn’t included, there’s no ironing board, tea, or kettle, and there were only two glasses in the room. Staff broke one and didn’t replace it. They even left the glass shards on the floor. I’m not kidding.
