The evening shows were much better than we'd expected. Hotel entertainment can be hit-and-miss for us, but the acts here were high quality and we really enjoyed our nights. We also liked being able to pop into the other Barcelo hotels for drinks and ice creams, and the mini golf was fun. We're glad we chose the adults-only Royal Level section. We stayed for two all-inclusive weeks with friends. The suites are arranged in groups of two or four, each with a terrace or balcony positioned for privacy. The grounds were clean and well cared for, with lots of planting, though some of the red path surfaces could use attention. The pool area looked lovely, and there were plenty of loungers and parasols. The buffet offered a good range, although a few options occasionally ran out in the evenings. We were surprised that all the cocktails we asked for were included, unlike at some other hotels. Every staff member we met was friendly, helpful and smiling. Yasmir, Daniel and Melissa deserve a mention. The bar could feel chilly in the evenings, and some wind protection along the side would help. Perhaps the extension work will address that. Jet2 had warned us about building work in the restaurant area; it could be noisy at times, but there was no dust, and we were fascinated by how quickly it was going up. The promenade was easy to reach, making for lovely walks around the bay and to the marina. The hotel was excellent, and we'd stick with our booking again.
We enjoyed our 10 nights here in November 2025, and the Royal Level reception staff were friendly and helpful. The facilities were generally clean, cared for and well maintained. Still, a few things kept this from feeling like a five-star stay. Our main frustration was the pool loungers. Signs said they couldn't be reserved, yet nearly all were covered with towels before breakfast. Guests from other parts of the Barcelo resort, and even from other hotels, also used the Royal Level Adults Only pool and loungers without being challenged, even when they didn't have wristbands. The all-inclusive offer was confusing. It would've helped to get a list of entitlements at check-in. The buffet listed various wines as included, but when we asked for a particular bottle it was invariably out of stock, so we ended up asking for red or white and getting whatever type happened to be available. Drinks in the room fridge were charged after the initial supply. At the Spanish and Italian restaurants, our voucher only covered one glass of wine and a limited menu selection. We both eat vegetarian food, but found the options limited. At the Royal Level buffet, the only pizza was ham, and once I took chickpea stew only to find sausage in it at the table. Dishes weren't labelled as vegetarian, only for food intolerances. Meal times also start late and felt restrictive. Lunch began at 1pm and dinner at 6:30pm. Some families struggled with that, and the earliest restaurant bookings we could get were around 7pm. There was a queue of hungry diners at the two larger restaurants ahead of the 6:30 opening. You need the app to book restaurants and the gym, and to report room problems. The gym itself was good, but the air conditioning wasn't on, making it hot and stuffy inside. Despite the issues, we enjoyed our stay. We wouldn't return unless these things improved. It's a good hotel that could be great.
There are easy, flat walking routes if you need them, and the resort opens straight onto the beach and sea. It also has a gym, spa and several restaurants to try during your stay. The holiday feeling starts as soon as you check in at reception. The staff are brilliant, and if you come back often, they become friends.
The pool and dining terrace had a spectacular view, and we never struggled to find a sunbed. We were happy enough with the food on our half-board stay: breakfast had plenty of choice, plus some dishes you could order from a menu and have brought to your table. I had eggs benedict once. Dinner at the buffet was OK, though it could be better, and we didn't care for the themed evenings. Breakfast drinks were the weak point. Staff served the tea and coffee, but it was often lukewarm by the time it got to us. My wife and I spent eight nights at the Barcelo Fuerteventura Royal Level, the adults-only part of the complex, in early May 2026. First impressions were good and stayed that way. The suites are spacious, and we especially liked having separate lounge and bedroom areas. Towels were replaced daily, and the sheets were changed when we asked. Room cleaning could have been better, and replenishing the tea and coffee supplies was hit-and-miss. The fire alarm went off without an apparent reason twice: once during the day while we were getting ready for dinner, and again at 11:45pm while we were asleep. A maintenance worker came by a couple of days later, but we never got a satisfactory explanation. We've booked to return in September. We've gone back to hotels before, but never this soon.
It's the staff who make this hotel feel special, and we're already looking forward to two more visits in 2026. We hope to see as many of the same friendly faces again. We visited the Barcelo Fuerteventura Royal Level Adults Only for the third time in 12 months, and it was just as good as before. On our first evening, Camillo remembered our favourite cocktails from our June visit and had them ready within minutes of us sitting at the bar. Yasmir recognised us too and greeted us with a big hug. Ask him for one of his special drinks, it's better than a Manhattan. The restaurant staff are a credit to the hotel and Barcelo brand. Evelyn, Vanessa, Melisa, Victoria and manager Eva all stood out. They're tireless, always smiling, and make you feel that nothing is too much trouble. Everyone goes above and beyond to make you feel at home, and their kindness is unmatched. The hotel and surroundings are beautiful too, but the people are what bring us back.
