Hotel Sierra de Aracena

It's good.

The mattresses were comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. It was great having double curtains, including a blackout one that kept out all the light, plus double windows with one double-glazed layer that blocked noise completely. The value for money was excellent. I slept in a double bed with one pillow the full width of the bed, and missed having an individual pillow. That's my only suggestion: it would be great to have a single pillow in the wardrobe with the spare bedspread. The staff were friendly. Highly recommended.

The room was cozy and very clean, with a view of the castle, and the bed was very comfortable. The reception staff were friendly and attentive, and explained everything clearly. We stayed one night and left happy, confident we'll come back. The location is central, with plenty of bars nearby. The caves are five minutes away, and the Jamón Museum is right next door. The castle is farther off in the mountains, but still a half-hour walk. One suggestion: replace the bathtubs with showers.

The service was excellent, and we chose the hotel for its great location. But it badly needs a complete renovation. We were put in room A-5, where the sink and bathtub had been painted white, which I found neither hygienic nor ethical. In 40 years of travel, I'd never seen that before. The bathroom shelves were burned by cigarettes, the armchairs were old and broken, the trim was cracked, and the sliding windows wouldn't open.
