Casa Don Benito

The Wi-Fi worked really well, and there was a chair in the bathroom that made things easier. But the bathroom hadn't been cleaned properly, with hair in the shower, and the shower floor was slippery and not non-slip. I use a walking stick, so that didn't feel very safe. In the bedroom, paint was peeling off the walls and the mattress was very uncomfortable for me. The kitchen oven didn't work either. When we arrived, the fridge door wouldn't close and the fridge wasn't working. In the heat, being without one was unacceptable. They did bring us a bigger fridge, but there were still all the other problems. I could say more, but I'll leave it there.

Manuel and Maruja are lovely people, and the house itself is very nice in a perfect location. This was our second year, though, and the maintenance and cleanliness had got considerably worse since last year. The house wasn't fully clean when we arrived. There should be more kitchenware, and what they have needs replacing. A clothesline in each house, some basic cleaning products, pillows, and a better TV connection and perhaps a bigger TV would help too. Guests should also have towels and cloths suited to how long they're staying. We were there for 7 nights. Don Benito is a great place to relax, especially for couples who want peace and nature. With a few comfort improvements for the houses and guests, it could be ideal again.

The owner is a delight and gave us all kinds of information. This is a wonderful place, in a completely restored old house that belonged to a local resident and has been turned into rural accommodation. It was a very successful idea. There are several fully equipped apartments in different sizes. I was nearby for work and couldn't get a room at the place we've stayed before. The only drawback I can think of is that there's no pool, though the Porto de Mouro reservoir is fantastic, with breathtaking views. It's a dreamlike spot for a weekend. We'll definitely be back. The owners are really nice, and the view is pretty cool. We had a 2-bedroom apartment, but it had very little light and no balcony or terrace. Apparently, you have to request that when booking. It's a good place to disconnect from the world, since there's no coverage and the Wi-Fi is spotty. Hiking trails: 0. Cleanliness: 6. No reception.
