Hotel Alkázar

The staff were delightful and helpful, and let us leave our bags so we could enjoy the day. The bed was comfortable and the shower very good. I stayed one night, and my only slight negative was the green emergency exit light glowing at night.

For 75 Eur a night for two people in the center of Valencia, I thought it was fine, and the room was clean with helpful staff. The walls are quite thin, though, so you can hear almost everything from the neighbors and hallway. I don’t get why there are so many bad reviews.

I asked Hotel Alkázar in early January 2025 about booking for December, during the Valencia Marathon. They told me reservations for those dates would open in October or early November. I followed that advice and contacted them as soon as October arrived, well within the timeframe they’d given me, only to get a short reply saying they were already fully booked. That felt unfair and frustrating after I’d respected the timeline they provided. The whole experience left me with a very negative impression of their communication and booking policy.

The hotel is great value for the price, with nice staff and a great location right by the subway. Lines 3 and 5 go directly to the airport. Since it’s surrounded by restaurants, though, you can smell them in the hotel passage. The soundproofing is really bad too. I had to wake up several times from 5:00 a.m. onward because many guests seemed to have early flights.
